The site needed to stand out from its competitors but having a sense of warmth whilst also being a smart contemporary site. This site is built on a CMS (Content Management System) and so the client is able to edit all of the website content, pages and graphics. We also designed the logo and colour scheme.

Grow Your Own Way is a new e-commerce site selling a range of grow your own products from salads and herbs to microleaves, as well as other useful garden tools. We created the branding for Grow Your Own Way as well as designing and building their first e-commerce store, launched Nov 2011. The aim was to provide a simple and clear shopping experience whilst also alowing some nice AJAX features in and room for the client to change over hero banners, adverts and more.

Following the launch of the Galoupet restaurant and the new slick site for the restaurant side of the business we were asked to redevelop and design a WordPress theme in line with the Galoupet branding, incorporating lightbox features, Twitter and social networking feeds as well as a fairly nifty commenting system that allows users to login directly from Facebook and other networks. This populates comments across all you platforms opening a discussion from twitter on your blog. Ideal for social networking.

As you will have noticed if you are used to using wordpress, it has a horrid inbuild script to automatically link images in an image gallery through to a new page just showing the image with a really ugly page name. The whole thing is rather pointless and lets hope they fix it sometime soon.

However I am chuffed to say with my fairly average php skills I found a fix which I have used to then link to my attachement images in a lightbox. Its not theme based which will mean it will get thorwn out with updates I guess – but I don’t know how else one would do it and I couldn’t find a solution that worked on the net.

So heres what I did:

1, Install a lightbox plugin or hardcode the lightbox script into your theme. I have used various ones – Lightbox plus being the latest. This will then automcially insert the lightbox script into your page allowing us to hardcode a rel statement into the link to our image.

2, Now in wp-includes find the media.php file and find the lines with:

foreach ( $attachments as $id => $attachment ) {
$link = isset($attr['link']) && ‘file’ == $attr['link'] ? wp_get_attachment_link($id, $size, false, false) : wp_get_attachment_link($id, $size, true, false);
which is about line 852 in my current version of wordpress

now delete the $size I have bolded above and save

3, Find the post-template.php file and on line 1174 (my version of wordpress 3.2.1) it says:

return apply_filters( ‘wp_get_attachment_link’, “<a href=’$url’ title=’$post_title’>$link_text</a>”, $id, $size, $permalink, $icon, $text );
}

now insert rel=’lightbox’ after the post_title section so it reads

return apply_filters( ‘wp_get_attachment_link’, “<a href=’$url’ title=’$post_title’ rel=’lightbox’>$link_text</a>”, $id, $size, $permalink, $icon, $text );
}

That will then make your image link to its file, not the attachment page. It will also prevent the cropping that occurs in gallery which is what I wanted.

If you have a further question about coding and stuff – dont ask me as my php skills at this level are weak at best – but I was so amazed I found a solution I thought I’d share it.

Now, down the line, the business has expanded and so has the web-presence. Muddy Boots now have their own corporate website built in our CMS of choice, over which they can take total control, editing all site content, images, slideshows etc visible here .

The e-commerce side of the business is now Muddy Boots Foodhall, a website built using Volusions online software, which offers favourable transaction rates and costs.

The Master Herbalist Ltd (www.themasterherbalist.co.uk) is a small company based in Suffolk, England. They sell a variety of products from Garden tools, soaps and scrubs, to grow your own kits, moth herbs and suchlike.

The Master Herbalist required an online shop from which they could retail all their wares online as well as providing a platform to carry out b to b transactions.

Their site is 100% manageable from an online control panel, where multiple staff members, including a seperate fulfillment warehouse, are able to add and remove products and view current orders. We also provided consultation on the setting up of Google Adwords to help advertise the store and drive traffic to it.

The Master Herbalist has seen a steady increase in turn over through their website and it has become a key part of their marketing and planning strategy.

“Burble’s design fits our brand perfectly and their elegant easy to use control panel is exactly what we were after. They made the whole process very simple for us and I would recommend them to any business looking to build an affordable web store.”
